Business intelligence from a small team that's been at it since 1999.

We make Yurbi, for software vendors who need analytics inside their product, and DashboardFox, for teams who need dashboards of their own. Published pricing, self-hosting when you want it, and the engineers who wrote the code answer your email.

What's up with the fish?

Same engine, two different jobs.

Both products run on the BI engine we've been refining for over two decades. The difference is who uses the reports.

From city hall to the Fortune 500.

For 17 years as 5000fish, organizations of every size have run their reporting on our software — many of them for more than a decade.

Customers on six continents, from North and South America to Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Who runs on it

  • Federal government
  • State & local government
  • Fortune 500
  • Healthcare
  • Banking & finance
  • Manufacturing
  • SaaS & software vendors
  • Retail
  • Consulting
  • Startups & small business

Many of our customers have been with us for over 10 years. It's what we're proudest of.

Your BI vendor changed. We didn't.

Most teams find us after their reporting vendor changed on them: a big price hike, an acquisition, support that stopped answering, a roadmap that stalled. We've helped teams move off Izenda, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Logi and others — and we've been competing with billion-dollar BI vendors, and winning, since 1999.

Talk to us about switching

Built for the long haul.

We're bootstrapped and independent, with no investors pushing for an exit. Many of our customers stay for a decade or more, and the tools you build on today are ones we plan to keep improving and supporting for years to come.

Pricing that doesn't ambush you.

Published, flat pricing. No per-seat creep, no surprise renewal hikes, and no paywalled security features.

You talk to the people who built it.

No tier-one queue, no outsourced support. The engineers who wrote the code answer, usually within a business day.

A roadmap that's still moving.

We ship weekly, and lost deals and customer feedback set the roadmap. Upgrades keep every report you've built working.

Over 25 years of building BI, with the same team.

The product, the platform and the name have all changed. The people building it haven't — and that experience is in every release.

    5000fish is formed

The software spins off into its own company and becomes Yurbi, built for the web and for ISVs.

  4. 2020

    DashboardFox launches

Same engine, for teams that want BI for their own organization or their clients.

  5. Now

    Version 12

.NET 10, Docker, Linux and Windows. Weekly builds, with every customer's reports carried forward.

David Ferguson
“I started building BI tools in 1999 because the existing options were either too expensive or too complicated. That problem still exists.”

We're a small bootstrapped team, no venture capital, no pressure to chase growth at all costs. When you reach out, you talk to the people who actually build the software — and when you give us feedback, it shapes what we ship next.

What's up with the fish?

A small amount, used well, goes a long way.

The name 5000fish comes from the Feeding of the 5000 — the biblical story where a few loaves and fish, multiplied with intention, fed a crowd. We saw something in that idea worth borrowing: that limited resources, applied with care, can do far more than they look like they should.

That's been the operating philosophy since we spun off as 5000fish in 2009 — and through our OakTree Enterprise Solutions years before that, back to 1999. Bootstrapped from day one. No outside investment in either entity. A small team competing against industry giants — and shipping software that's now embedded in products across government, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing.
